NEW YORK, NY–Aragon Construction, has begun work on a 17,800 slf interior build-out at One Rockefeller Plaza for Computer Science Corp. (CSC). Aragon is working in conjunction with architecture firm Gensler.
Their new space will utilize the entire 27'h floor and employ a black, white and red color palette to create a contemporary feel. Walker Zanger tiles have been used throughout the lobby and restrooms, while marble stone flooring will be incorporated at the elevators and reception. Fabric panels, carpet tile, broadloom and glass will also be used to enhance the look and feel of the space.
"The primary goal was to create an impressive experience for Computer Science Corporation's clients as they enter the space," said project manager Kathleen Friedle of Gensler.
The midtown location will include fifteen perimeter executive offices, four conference rooms, three meeting rooms, perimeter work stations and nine hotel rooms, which provide travelling employees and clients with a temporary workstation. The glass-fronted offices and open layout promote a collaborative work environment, making employees and clients more open and visible to each other - as well as providing plenty of natural light. The two glass-fronted conference rooms bordering the elevator will also serve as art galleries.
The lighting throughout the office is controlled by motion sensors to reduce excess energy consumption.
There will be a complete build-out of the men's and women's bathrooms, including the addition of an ADA handicap bathroom. The major construction - which has required waste lines be run throughout the tenant spaces below- initially posed a logistical challenge. "We had to be mindful of the other tenants, who were still trying to conduct business during the construction," said Alex Getelman, president and founder of Aragon Construction. "We were able to coordinate closely with them to ensure the work was done quickly and professionally without damage or disruption."
